Held annually, the Mount Gay Rum Barbados Regatta is Barbados’s premier regatta. The Regatta, which attracts boats from throughout the region and further afield, is sailed over 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, usually in the middle of May. Dates for 2013 is May 16th - 19th.
Over the years the classes have varied, however, in recent years the Cruising B and J24 Classes have attracted the highest number of entries. Other classes sailed in recent years have included Racing A, Racing B, Cruising A, Melges and Multihull.
The truly excellent sailing conditions along the South and West coasts of Barbados and in Carlisle Bay, together with the lively after race parties sponsored by Mount Gay, have led to the excellent reputation which the Regatta enjoys in the region and beyond. The Regatta celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2010.
